Having watched the trailer for the new Alien film, I can’t help but feel that any excitement I harboured for the film has gone. Why is it that marketing departments feel the need to show key plot spoilers in trailers? In the original film, the monster was kept mostly hidden which created tension and suspense. With the trailer, I now know how several of the characters will meet their sticky fate thus any form of genuine surprise has been lost.

I remember watching Prometheus after seeing the trailer and being really disappointed that most of the key plot points had been given away by it.

Of course it’s my own fault for viewing trailers but the art of making people want to see a film without giving away major plot points appears to have been forgotten.

Thoughts? Who else has seen films of late after seeing the trailer and come away disappointed?
