Bought it on DVD yesterday. So lame, the gags are just relentless though….started questioning why I liked it soo much as a kid until this point:
Rumack: Captain, how soon can you land?
    Captain Oveur: I can’t tell.
Rumack: You can tell me. I’m a doctor.
Captain Oveur: No. I mean I’m just not sure.
Rumack: Well, can’t you take a guess?
Captain Oveur: Well, not for another two hours.
Rumack: You can’t take a guess for another two hours?

I couldnt stop laughing after that!!!

Any other fans? Police Squad the full series is on for £6 at the moment!

Yeah, loved it, and Police Squad. Dated now though, and I guess we’ve (mostly) grown up somewhat!

Rumack: You’d better tell the Captain we’ve got to land as soon as we can. This woman has to be gotten to a hospital.
Elaine Dickinson: A hospital? What is it?
Rumack: It’s a big building with patients, but that’s not important right now.

Roger Murdock: Flight 2-0-9’er, you are cleared for take-off.
    Captain Oveur: Roger!
    Roger Murdock: Huh?
Tower voice: L.A. departure frequency, 123 point 9’er.
    Captain Oveur: Roger!
    Roger Murdock: Huh?
    Victor Basta: Request vector, over.
    Captain Oveur: What?
Tower voice: Flight 2-0-9’er cleared for vector 324.
Roger Murdock: We have clearance, Clarence.
Captain Oveur: Roger, Roger. What’s our vector, Victor?
Tower voice: Tower’s radio clearance, over!
Captain Oveur: That’s Clarence Oveur. Over.
    Tower voice: Over.
    Captain Oveur: Roger.
    Roger Murdock: Huh?
    Tower voice: Roger, over!
    Roger Murdock: What?
    Captain Oveur: Huh?
    Victor Basta: Who?

Ted Striker: My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We’re bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We’re coming in from the north, below their radar.

Elaine Dickinson: When will you be back?

Ted Striker: I can’t tell you that. It’s classified.

Agree but the gags are stuffed in to the hilt. I mean in the first 10mins they’ve gone through about 100, its the momentum, you end up giving in to the gag that finally hits you then as you are on the ropes laughing the next roll of gags overwhelm you and you give in once more!!!

Rumack: Can you fly this plane, and land it?
Ted Striker: Surely you can’t be serious.
Rumack: I am serious… and don’t call me Shirley.

It was one of the first films I remember watching with my Dad. It’s an utter classic.

It was then my drinking problem started…. ;o)

Oh, and the old lady that speaks “Jive” and the seatbelt warning message “Putana da seatbelt”.

I’ve got Police Squad on DVD.

    Yes it is.

I like the bit in Airplane 2 – ‘Caution – Vacuum’ and when the open the door a vacuum cleaner starts attacking him. So purile yet so funny.

    Yes it is.

Airplane was on film4 the other night, much more fun than fettling bikes in the garage.

    Assume crash positions!

The red zone is for loading and unloading…

No, the white zone is for loading and unloading…

    Premier Icon jimmy

    National Lampoon’s Vacation’s the classic I remember.

Oh my gaawwwdd, the dog peed on the sandwiches!

(needs chevy chase’s face, cue rolling on the floor laughing for AGES)

My brother and I watched Top Secret to death as kids:

    Premier Icon molgrips

It is a classic and one of the greatest films ever made. FACT.

Also, the Naked Gun is Barry Norman’s favourite film. He of the highbrow film reviews. That is significant.

police squad at the end when they used to just stand there and not move…

The p*ss take of the rambo film done in the same vein is good, where charlie sheene is rambo, runs out of bullets throws his gun down then starts actually throwing bullets and still killing the enemy…
