You might have seen that an e-petition is doing the rounds begging Neath Port Talbot council to keep Afan Forest visitor centre open. I’d happily sign it and share it (it’s what passes for democracy these days, doncha know) but I’d like a bit more info first.

First off, which centre is shutting? I thought the “old” visitor centre nearer to Port Talbot might be on borrowed time, although I’d be sad to see it go and it still seems plenty popular.

There’s also this from NPT Council which suggests that rumours of its death may be greatly exaggerated.

Original news story which seems to have sparked the hoo-hah here:

Since posting this I’ve had the following cleared up by the petition author. It’s the old centre (not Glyncorrwyg Ponds), and the staff have been given notice (in which context, a tweet saying “we’re trying to find an operator to take over” begins to sound a lot like the last rites).

If any mod wants to merge this with the other thread that’s just popped up, I’ll happily edit this so it makes more sense.
