Smug bit: Me and Mrs Doug are moving out of our home in March to travel and ride bikes in Europe

Not so smug bit: We’re struggling to find an insurance provider to cover our bits and pieces against theft and accidental damage. Our existing policy requires a UK postcode.

    Any suggestions?

    I’ll provide a postcode for £500+vat

Will you still have your property or a relatives address you can use?

Use the same address you’ll be giving your UK bank(s), or are you closing those as well.

I’d be suprised if uk home insurance covers away from “home” for 100% of the time, and doesn’t limit to 90 days or similar.

    And BTW, gits 😛

As above. You need to look a travel insurance not house insurance.

Expect to pay a fair bit

Are you just wanting to cover bikes and some personal possessions while away? If so, Pedal Cover might be worth a look, they cover your bikes and some personal possessions worldwide.
