Any outstanding places on the coast I should be considering – will be taking the road bike.

Anywhere from Brighton all the way around to South east Anglia!

    camping.

If you want nice country lanes Sussex is full of them, nice routes around Beachy Head, Cuckmere Haven, take a look at Stage 7 of the Tour of Britain. Pevensey Levels heading towards Normans Bay and Bexhill. Inland towards Ashdown Forest is pretty good too.

I’d say “Do Kent” If you’ve scoped out all of the SE then Kent should fair well.
Head Leeds Castle way then to the coast from there, up along (and into Dungeness) to “MaaaarrrrGate (me old CHina)” and head back inland and play in the Garden County around south Canterbury way..

    I like Kent.
