New or refurbished, purely for student use to write CVs and give a presentation – so office suite capable.

Anyone seen any banging bargains? Anyone work in IT looking to move a load of ex staff laptops?

For that level of use – Chromebooks? Would probably be the cheapest route to entry but depends on what is a very low budget

Could be worth giving http://www.nsoptimum.co.uk/ a quick phone call. We used them quite a lot when I was @ IT helpdesk in a past life they’re a great company

Contact Dell or HP Enterprise and explain your need and purpose. You may be quite surprised what they can offer. For instance, I can tell you that our buy price for HP equipment is less than 50% of the website cost.

Microsoft offer discounted devices for Students and School kids. They’ve got some really basic ones for £185.

Failing that, Laptops Direct have loads of refurbs in stock.

SIMMS / MyDigitalTech would be worth a shout.

They do a lot of refurb’d machines and very likely to be able to get their hands on that sort of level of stock (they’re massive).

    Good luck!
