Depends what and how you ride.

Only you know what gears you can push…

When fitter I always rode 32:16 on my SS 29er,that’d kill me now….

34 x 11-36 on 3 29’ers here – mostly fine. Wished for a smaller ring in Spain, but managed everything and I’m no whippet.

    34 on a 29er is a bit like a 37t on 26″ wheels innit? Seems fairly tall.

32 on my 26 inch hardtail, wouldn’t go higher personally, 34 on a 29er is much higher. I’m not the strongest of riders mind but that’d have me pushing far too much. Also will make finding traction trickier.

Yes, for the same chainring/sprocket size 29er gearing is about 10% higher.

    So between a 37 and 38 basically on 26″ wheels. I’d go 32t.

32-36 on my 29er feels like my 26″ bike with a 36 up front

32 and 11-36 here. Its got me up everything so far, and I’ve yet to feel under geared when descending.

30 for me. I don’t miss much at the top end and don’t need to use 30-36 that much, but nice to have it when needed.
