Yes thanks, no need for the patronising comments. An 11-28 would require you to shift on the front more than a wider ratio cassette, which is purposely what I’d be trying to avoid. I used to use a 12-27 cassette with a triple, but had to shift on the front the whole time, which got annoying.
I’ve played with ratios since, and found 28/40 with an 11-34 good for 9 speed, and have been on 28/42 with an 11-36 10 speed this year, both have been good. It’s horses for courses really, I personally have no need for a 22t granny ring, 28 is plenty. Similar, whilst 11-36 Is a perfectly good top gear, having a bigger outer ring means I’m not spinning out on the road and not constantly at the bottom of the block.
