Replacing MK1 Stans Crest on my Singular Switf

Have no idea what a decent rim is these days, but want to go wider (25mm??)

Not too expensive. What’s out there?

In your position I would guess these should be good:

If you’re after something a little sturdier then a step up to these might be in order (but probably not given the crests they would be replacing):

I’m about to build up a pair of the XR391s mentioned by bigginge for my flat-bar-monster-gravel-commuter-bike with 700x50s. Not sure if £75/rim is ‘not too expensive’ though (it’s effing expensive to me!).

DT Swiss also do https://www.dtswiss.com/en/components/rims-mtb/cross-country/xr-361 which is even lighter and marginally narrower, so perhaps not what you’re looking for but possibly worth considering.

    Would definitely reccomend DT swiss.

I’ve got XM481s on my trail bike and just built up some of the aforementioned XR361 on my Sonder Gravel bike.

I would say the slightly wider XR391 is the one to go for in the range for a Singular Swift, presuming your running XC MTB tyres in the 2 to 2.2ish range.

The DT rim range are expensive, but the higher end rims (all those mentioned above, basically the ones with red/black graphics) are very nicely made, they have a really nice durable matt/bead blasted style finish, and they are really nice and easy to build using the DT ‘squorx’ nipples which come included in the box (clawing back a little of the cost too).

Mavic XM624s were going cheap a while ago – 24mm internal, eyelets, build nicely, not too heavy. I’d probably go DT if price were no object but mavic make decent rims IME even if they’ve been slow to go wide.

Stans Arch are 26mm internal. I have them on my carbon hardtail and with DT Swiss hubs they’re pretty light. They did suffer from some cracks around the spokes on the rear but Stans replaced them FOC.
