    Kryton – perhaps when you’ve re-read what I actually posted and not what you want to believe, you might realise that it’s not BS as you suggest.
    The first part was a joke between friends.
    The remainder is based on experience (anecdotal though that may be) of events that I regularly take part in. As soon as I can afford I’ll be racing on a 29er HT – because I’m convinced they’ll be faster for the type of events that I ride.

    I think you are expecting too much from a 29er then. Yes they help, but a FS bike they are most definitely not.

    Sanity – I’d forgotten that – but the bikes were full suss 26er vs rigid 29er drop bar.

    I guess I could allocate 10 minutes to each difference 😛
