Afternoon all. I have a day and a night in Valencia next week with my SO, staying in Ciutat Vella.

We only have 24 hours before heading to see my family, so I was hoping for recommendations for a romantic day in the city. Hire bikes and have a ride along the old river to the beach? Head to the science park? Anything you have really enjoyed there? Any hot tips for dinner would be ace.

Old river bed is nice, and the famous market is pretty cool too. There’s a big church you can go on the roof off – near the famous square whose name I’ve forgotten. Science park is pretty stunning too – a short walk out of the city but worth it if you like jaw-dropping architecture. Great city – leave some time for just hanging out with a beer and people watching.  Enjoy it.

Tube to science park and walk back up the old river. Loads of great places for tapas in city centre.

We had great meal at La Lola, but need to book.

‘ plaza de la virgen’ is possibly the famous square you mean – great for people watching, it’s like a lung that breathes and changes as the day progresses. The church tower is ‘El Miguelete’ – which gives great views over the city.

For somewhere to eat in a great setting, try ‘Restaurante la pizca de sal’  (translates as ‘pinch of salt) near ‘Torres de Quart’

Recently spent two weeks out there for work. My hotel was actually in the science park area and to be honest whilst visually impressive it did feel a little like Milton Keynes with more sun.  There was also nobody about, even at weekends.  I’d either jump in a taxi and head to the beach, or head to the old town and take in the atmosphere.

I hired a decent road bike out there as was on my own, but got back yesterday from Cordoba with the other half – we hired Ebikes and it was a great way to get about taking the sights in.  Valencia has a brilliant network of cycle paths so worth making use of

I go a fair bit to valencia so all the above touristy bits, but tbh i would go and have a paella in el palmar and a boat trip on the albufera after.  The boat trip is c 25e for the whole boat, take a cool box with some chilled cava and give him a few euros more to extend the trip and get the boat to yourselves.

Do the touristy stuff if you must, just get the hop on hop off bus.

You could cycle out to el palmar on the beach road, it really is nice as all national park, but today is c 35 degrees so a bit hot.

Failing that the casa montana, cabanal, is the best tapas bar by miles.  Bit pricey maybe but well worth it.
