Anybody running this combo? Seen suggestion that the min size for these rims is 2.5 and there is no way I can squeeze that in the rear of my stooge.
Hoping for reassurance here as I’ve already ordered a pair of 50mm wide carbon rims

Send them back and get normal rims instead of fatbike rims.

I’ll buy one from you! I’m looking for a 50mm carbon rim in 29” flavour.
Send me an email- khodson (@) essex (.) ac (.) uk

Edit: mine will be for the front of my Stooge too!

Was thinking it would be fine with 2.3 tyres and was sure I’d seen some on here running this combo. Thus the question

I’ve not got 50mm rims, but for what its worth; I’m running a 2.25 RR on a 45mm rim with no problems.

I would imagine it would make the tyre profile very flat and risk damaging the rim from impacts

That’ll do for me amplebrew, thanks.
I’ll probably be running a Geax Gato 2.3 which has a freakishly tall profile on a Flow EX

    That’s cool.

Just for reference a 2.25RR measures up to be 60mm, so 2.36 inches on a 45mm Dually.

I know people running 2.4 contis and 2.4 chunky monkeys on 45mm duallys. And I know of people running 2.5 minions (new big ones) and 2.4 CMs on 50mm Rabbit Holes.

Bigger tyres are betterer, get a tyre that suits your rim.

650b+ on the rear of a stooge, saw some Facebook post, looks good

It’s a balance of what will fit in the rear of the stooge and a big enough tyre for the rim.

Notice on the rabbit hole page it mentions opening up 2.3 tyres nicely

I did it. It was a revelation! Few years ago now, built a bike to go mtbing in india with out of the tatty old spares, these spares included 60mm trials rims. I only had 2.3 tyres. I would still be riding those wheels today if it wasn’t for weight. They made the tyre feel so nice to ride. Do it!

I suppose it’ll depend a bit on the tyres too- if it’s already fairly “flat” it’ll be super mega flat, if it’s fairly rounded it’ll end up wider and flatter, could actually work well that. (some tyres really benefit from going on wider rims, others have a good shape on normal rims)

GH, where did you get the rims from? If you don’t mind my asking…
