looking at this :

for web / streaming to media center / photo editing / emails / etc…

would have liked blu-ray however and hdmi out is handy.

anything else / other recomendations PLEASE ?

Aldi just recently were selling the medion 17″ core i3 laptops for £400 in a sale.
No dedicated graphics card but otherwise good value.
