Or tell me it does work preferably!!

I know it shouldn’t as the chain pitches are different, but has anyone run a 9 speed chain set with the 11 speed chain, cassette and mechs???

Pitch is the same across all bicycle chains. 9 speed inner width is the same as 11 speed, the only thing that’s different is the outer width.

I’d say it would work just fine, unless the chainrings are further apart than the 11sp version.

Sweet, was hoping that was the case. Cheers.

It’s for my son’s road bike and I can get the sora chainset in a short length with the right size chainrings and about £70 odd cheaper than the 105!! I know it won’t be quite as light but the sizing is more important as the whole upgrade of his drive train will save quite a bit of weight anyway.
