10 years ago I was really into my XC racing and big Scottish mountains but didn’t really have a full suspension trail/enduro bike. The Anthem was great, it took me to a lot of podiums but was also great on normal trails. It was fast, light and fun.
The Evil was just the best at the time – it was one bike that did everything, from normal XC rides to the DH trails at Innerleithen. Nowadays I think I’d be amazed at just how tiny it was.
Now I have a Transition Patrol Carbon which I use for my big mountain adventures. It’s massive, long and stable and fast. I also have a Trek Stache that’s build up with some light kit so I can take it XC racing this summer with normal 29″ wheels on it, but I also take it to Inners in the winter and ride normal trails on it. It’s a ridiculously good bike, far better than it looks. I’ve had both for just over 2 years, which is a long time by my standards, and I don’t think I’ll get rid of them any time soon.
