I know these topics were done to death 5 years ago, but I have a bike to build before the weekend and need some quick confirmation on the setup I intend to build, and if it wont work have a little time to buy more stuff!

I think the rear will be ok,

    XT 10 spd rear mech

    SLX 10 speed cassette

    XT 1- speed front shifter

    XT 10 speed chain.

The front setup may be a problem

    Sram x7 crank GXP – 39/26

Sram X5 10 speed double front mech

    XT front 2×0 shifter

Will the XT front shifter work with the SRAM front mech?

Will the 2×10 SRAM X7 crank work with the XT chain and XT rear mech?

    Thanks for your help!

A one speed shifter won’t work with anything. Assuming you mean a double, I’m not sure but I would imagine it’d be fine – a double is pretty tolerant. I’d give it a go and buy a new shimano mech if you have problems.

The crankset will be fine with the chain and rear mech.

Yep I meant XT 10 speed Rear shifter and 2×10 Front shifter

Cool, as long as the crank will work im sure I’ll figure something out for the front mech.

You shouldn’t have any trouble with that beyond the usual front mech setup faffing as far as I’m aware.

I’ve run sram shifters on shimano front mechs and vice versa in the past with zero problems. I doubt I’m alone in this.

Quite why they could manage to keep the cable pull constant on front mechs across brands, groups and speeds (double triple as well as 7 to 11) but couldn’t manage it on the rear i don’t know
