My friend from NZ nearly died 2 years ago from a horrific burns(including his lungs) accident in South America. http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/6329713/Burns-victim-on-comeback-trail

He fought back and self supported has been racing in Europe and N America, mainly enduro(sitting 8th overall). And doing OK; 3rd at whistler, 7th on the mega, 1st on the mountain of hell and just come in 6th at trans prov.
Great guy who has beat the odds to comeback strong. Haven’t seen him and his good lady for ages but coming to visit in November.

I heard about this guy showing up some of the pros, didn’t know his story though.

Quite awesome. Look forward to seeing him on a pro team next year, if that’s his target.

He’s a really nice guy, very down to earth. He was on NZ mountain rescue/ski patrol for a while, true outdoorsman.

He’s tough as. His lungs are massive, they didn’t even realise it was punctured for several days!
