They have got rid of the charitable relief on business rates for private schools, which is something.

I think it's a good move to only hit the high earners with a 1p rise in the pound while cutting taxes for the average earner.

I'm still hacked off to be paying for trident but that's another argument.

Mrs_oab gets a 2% rise, and being part time is under median. So likely evens out.
I pay extra £70-150 a year.
I like the increased progressive approach - more I say, especially for those on lower wages.
I'm happy to pay more, as long as money is wisely spent.

I'm one of the ones that will be taxed more. I don't mind, tbh I thought it wasn't progressive enough but I suppose their hands are tied somewhat.

One bit I didn't like was that public sector folk over a certain amount were still getting a raise when lot's in the private sector who will be paying for it through increase tax haven't had much of a raise for years either. I'd have prefered it all went to those on lower incomes who are struggling the most with stagnant pay.

A brief skim suggests I'll probably be a little worse off, but I'm comfortable with the general principle of those who have more contributing more, so I don't really care.

Correct if earning under £30k. I'm only thinking about myself here (living the dream as a local authority middle manager)

Seems pretty fair to me. 2/3rds of the population will see a much needed take home pay rise/tax cut, the rest of us will see marginal tax increase...

Not seem anything to cause me to be majorly outraged & fairly happy the country is more left of centre than the rest of the UK.

I read it that public sector pay increase was 3%. And if you are paying more tax you are already in the top 30% of earners (which might then be limiting your pay increase of course).

Happy that there is a substantial increase to the Active Travel budget.

So, what do you think?

NHS seems to do okay, Councils not so good.

Cap on public sector pay freeze and increase to 2% is welcome, but benefit is immediately wiped out by increase of 1p on income tax. So in my case, they are giving then taking.

Loving that gold clubs will now pay proper tax, frustrating they didn't sort our tax on private schools though.
