that seiko 5 posted above is a nice watch (ive got one on a material strap) but, its far from a chunky watch. its tiny.

if it were me i'd look for another g shock, or keep your eye on ebay for something secondhand. nixon / fossil also make decentish and cheap chunky watches.

Amazon has a sale of watches now. Diesel being one of the brands. They are chunky and can have a modern design (sometimes a bit too modern ;-)). Nixon is a nice brand as well, nice watches but £50 wouldn't get You much brand new.

I gave my Diesel watch away to a friend and now have a titanium Citizen, not too chunky, similar size to the Seiko above, bracelet went back to the box and nato strap was put on. Love it.

The Seiko above is really nice, simple looks. £50 should be enough to get a used but good condition Seiko Kinetic or Citizen Eco-Drive.

You can always get another G-shock ;-)

Sorry didnt mean to inadvertantly rubbish the names of reputable japanese watchmakers, just thoose cheap plastic ones you get for £5.

Watching a nice sekundo and a seiko as recommended, we shall see if the price rockets :D

Most Japanese watches aren't rubbish so you should be safe there.

There are loads of Seiko's available in that range (If you don't mind using ebay).

Geoffj's is a good suggestion. Or this one:
