They are nice racks but at over £500 - well you could buy a bike for that!

wouldnt bother me so long as the beams were sturdy enough otherwise youll get some vibration going on over that length.

Get a commercial rack and put 3 bars on would be my solution.

We have recently picked up a small campervan. In order to free up clutter in the 'van we are looking to get a roofbox to store clothes. The roof rack holding the roof box will also be used to transport a canoe. Being a van derived vehicle, there is the option of having the roof rails far apart approx (~2m) - good for stable transportation of the canoe. However the spacing of the bars is likely to be wider than those for the fixing of the roof box. Would it be a mental idea to mount the roofbox on a ladder type longitudinal beam between the fore and aft roof bar? The box would be supported at one end directly on one roof bar and it would only be other end actually supported on the beam. It's been around 10 years since I last did beam theory calcs, and even then they were only static loadings, not dynamic... Cheers
