I'm looking at getting an Asgard shed for a mix of bikes / garden stuff / tools. At a minimum it will have 2 bikes, a lawnmower and tools on shelves, but ideally it would have extra space to grow into. Looking at the 4, 6 and 7 bike sheds. The space we have to fit it tapers so a longer shed means a smaller walkway down the side of it, so there is a balance to be found.
I'd appreciate any real world examples of what you can fit in yours! Thanks
Whatever the claimed capacity is, I'd halve it as a starting point. Also depends on your expectations - 4 bikes in a claimed 4 bike shed and you won't be freely wheeling them in and out. You might still cram them in but it will be cosy and require careful handling to avoid damaging them. Good sheds though. I went for the police approved model and it's solid.
I have the 29er shed which says up to 4 bikes. Usually keep 3 in there which is easy without any shelves. Adding shelves would make it difficult but if you're going for a taller shed with shelves up above the bikes it should be easy.
We've got a '12' one - (this: https://www.asgardsss.co.uk/cycle-store-x-12-police-approved) and it comfortably houses about 7 or 8 bikes. 4 x wheel-holders at the back then the rest leaning up against the sides/other bikes.
Shelves along one side + loads of hooks. It's ace.
If it was an overnight store for something like a hire fleet that gets emptied and re-filled daily, sure - it might take 12. But their sizing is optimistic!
It's a great bit of kit though; very happy with ours and would buy again if/when we ever moved house and it couldn't come with us.
Checking the price vs what we paid a couple of years ago, they've hiked a bit mind.
Got the 4 bike 29er model… should really be 4 bikes OR 29er. 4 road bikes should top and tail easily.
3 proper mtbs fit with the front wheels off. Height becomes a problem combined with bar width on mtb - you have to angle the bars towards the front to get the front grip to go down low enough to clear the lid - and that’s a challenge to do with multiple bikes.
good quality, would buy again. Couldn’t get a bigger one as it wouldn’t fit in the corner of the patio anyway, so stuck with the wheel removal issue.
We have a 4 x 29er shed and it normally has 4 or 5 bikes in. At the back turn the handlebars sideways. It it's getting tricky you might have to start taking pedals off or turning more handle bars at the front, too. TBF the largest bike in this shed is a size M Enduro bike so those with chunkier bikes are starting to struggle!
Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like most of the space issues are with the low side entry sheds, I'm looking more at the tall classic garden shed ones, hopefully they aren't quite as tight. Will have 1 bike (my commuter) that always needs easy access, another (partners occasional commuter) that needs to be able to be wheeled out and then space for a couple more that can be removed at leisure, plus a lawnmower. Sounds like the 6 biker is the minimum for all that
