I’ve not been getting out on the Canyon as much as I hoped but the bike is great, pretty much perfect for what I was after for a really good price too. I did the motor/power update, then found the battery was getting rinsed a bit too much so I’ve tweaked all the modes down and have them set sort of incrementally ever stronger on torque and assistance and power through the four modes. Only “boost” has full everything, and it’s very powerful, but does burn the battery. I tend to use boost at the end of a ride as I live halfway up a steep valley and I’m usually knackered by the time I’m heading home. The toning down has helped and I got 1000m climbing over 40km last time out with 15% left. The app said I did 55% of the effort. It was quite a claggy ride too. I’ve got, but not yet used, the Range Extender.

I managed to acquire myself a full dentist spec Yeti MTe T3 recently for comfortably under the OP’s budget, sold the bits I didn’t want (Everything Fox, ugly Reverb AXS, Mavens & Carbon DT wheels) & it only owes me about a couple of grand now - put all the bits off my old pedal powered trail bike & away I go.

Its a nice complimentarily different thing to my full power uplift machine at about 18.5kg, its a good 3.5kg lighter than my big bike, which feels like a small difference, what I do enjoy is the shorter travel, more lively feel, which is more geometry driven.

It is however a Yeti so it’s guaranteed to break & be a massive warranty headache however. Thankfully there is no Switch Infinity to catastrophically fail on this one 😆

Like @rockhopper70, I ended up taking advantage of the deals on the Canyon Neuron OnFly... I still have my full fat Mondraker Crafty too, but bought the cheapest Neuron OnFly as a compliment to it and its been fantastic!

Made a few changes to spec as already had nicer wheels, drivetrain, bars and stem waiting to go on... Ended up getting hold of a cheap Fox 36 (and reducing its travel to suit) from Merlin to replace the budget Pike, and did the same with a Fox Float shock to replace the sub par Rockshox Deluxe too.

Anyway... Regardless of spec, it's a superb bike for more general "trail" riding being significantly lighter and a bit shorter travel than my Crafty. It makes a nice contrast to be honest! My only criticisms would be the headset cable routing (it is what it is, it's better executed than most though), the charge port is a little flimsy so you need to be wary to be careful with it, and Canyon's sizing recommendations are a little conservative I would suggest... At 1m78 (5ft10) I'm on a large with a 40mm stem and it feels spot on, I suspect I could ride a medium fine but it would feel a bit more old school size wise...

They still have a few bargain bikes left too, though only in L and XL sizes.

I’ve made a few upgrades (fox 38, hope brakes) and really happy with it! Smashed a 30km 1200m 9 lap sesh yesterday in mucky conditions and it didn’t miss a beat. It’s made a great base for upgrades and is definitely a keeper.

Ive had a couple of big crashes and have wondered if a carbon frame might have suffered under the extra forces generated by the weight.

Then I got this Levo SL Coil for just over 5k and I've been loving it. It's underpowered with a small battery but it's a very nice handling bicycle with some assistance which is exactly what I wanted rather than a bloated heavyweight. I've only ridden it on my own so being slower than a full powered bike is irrelevant for now.

I've been riding further and more frequently than I have in years. I'm looking forward to taking it out tomorrow even though my legs are knackered.

For anyone still looking for a bike Pauls have Lapierre Overvolt AM's and Raymon Trailray 170s going for a song. My BIL has a Trailray and for £2k it's amazing VFM.
