Before I make an idiot of myself in when talking to a mechanic...

Am I right in thinking this is a 'drop link'? (Thing it is bolted to is the front shock absorber)

Is a split rubber gaiter on one of these an MOT failure? (to judge how urgently I need it sorted!)

Do you think this is the likely cause of a knocking sound I've had from the front? I'm going to assume yes, but the thing feels solid as a rock when I try and move it, I can't detect any play at all.

The Wild was second hand used wet and has blotted it's copybook a couple of times leaving me almost stranded. It also feels very unwieldy in anything other than winch and plummet, I probably don't need 38s. The bird fits me great, standover and reach are perfect.

I'm in the market for a replacement full fat eeb, preferably used. What frame has similar geometry to the Bird M-L or at least the lowest standover?

I took my venerable Canon 60D (SLR) to Australia last summer and it suffered some sort of failure. No harm, no foul, it was very well used and abused and it's time to retire it.

So I'm looking for something to replace it. I have a fairly decent phone camera (Pixel 10a), but I'd like to have something better for (mainly) stills and (possibly) videos when and if the kids use it. My kids are heavily into swimming and I'm tempted to have a go at snapping some of that, although having looked at what sort of lens speed is needed, I'm not entirely sure I can afford it!

I prefer viewfinders.

I don't feel tied in to an ecosystem as I'd sell all my lenses as well.

Some decent deals around on Lumix S5D are tempting, also Canon 2000D, but these are just because they are deals rather than any more logical reason.

https://store.panasonic.co.uk/lumix-s5d-full-frame-mirrorless-camera-twin-lens-kit-18-40mm-50mm-dc-s5dwe-k

https://www.currys.co.uk/products/canon-eos-2000d-dslr-camera-with-efs-1855-mm-f3.55.6-iii-and-ef-75300-mm-f45.6-iii-lens-10204844.html

Will go to £1k for camera and a lens. Once I get going again, I would look to upgrade lens.

Basically - there's tons of options and it's been 15 years since I last bought a camera.

Any pointers gratefully received - even if it's "go to a camera shop and try one out". :D

Ospreys have arrived back from Africa in the past couple of weeks so I defaulted to certain knowledge that I saw an osprey, this is backed up by Gemini. ChatGPT is adamant that it is a juvenile golden eagle. There are nesting pairs in the region but generally in more open areas. I’d love it to be the latter but still chuffed if it osprey. Expert thoughts?
