The legendary Shan GT, in arguably its finest colour scheme of Rothmans blue. A superb steel frame that has the signature flattened chain and seat stays that give vertical compliance whilst maintaining torsional rigidity. Undeniably the most comfortable hard tail I’ve ridden, with an excellent balance between nimble and pop-able, whilst also being hardcore enough to handle pretty much anything.
Owned by me from new and helitaped by the bike shop when I bought it.
It has the expected minor nicks and chips that you’d expect from use, though the vast majority seem to be to the frame protection, strip that and it’ll be virtually mint underneath. No dents or dings.
Its triple-butted Japanese 4130 Cromoly (I’ve been told it’s Tange but no way to verify that) so is light for a steel frame.
Included in the sale is the Wheels Manufacturing bottom bracket. Wheels Manufacturing are akin to Hope. Very high quality components, manufactured on site in their facility in Colorado. Superb bb that has loads of life left in it.
Selling it because at 6’4” with a long torso/arms and short legs it’s just a bit too small. Would be ideal for someone between 5’11” and 6’2” imo.
One note is that the dirty mark visible to the underside of the downturn is ingrained mud on the frame protection. Strip it off and it should be clean as.
Not much else to say really. I’ll be sad to see it go but the missus says I can’t hang it on the wall and it really needs to be ridden by someone who wants a hardcore hardtail that has the fun factor in spades. Price quoted is for collection. Add £20 for postage.
