Gazelle Formula Race – 525 (plus some ultegra)

For sale is a handbuilt Gazzelle Formula Race in 525 steel. This was made by Gazelle’s small race department, the same shop that also crafted the legendary line of Champion Mondial frames.

The frame is a large and features quality lug works, a braze on front mech, small nib for a pump, internal top tube routing for the rear brake and a 130mm rear spacing making it compatible with modern wheelsets. The forks are lugged blended, quite unique and beautiful. The headset is a shimano 600 (sealed bearings Ultegra/Dura ace), and the bike also comes with spattering of Ultegra 6500/3 components: brake calipers, front mech, crankset(52-42t in good condition), bottom bracket (spinning perfectly), as well as a 3M stem and a pair of 3M RTS handlebars (41CM C-C).

The bike and its components are in good used condition, please look at the photos to get an idea of the use marks. The frame is a large, but it is a racing frame: it has been built light with high quality Reynolds 525 tubing and it has that excellent steel ride quality but I wouldn’t recommend the frame to riders larger than 85kg or very strong time trial riders, as it has been my experience that at those limits the frame flexes during hard efforts. The frame clearances accommodate 28mm tyres with the included short drop brake calipers. There are a couple of shallow dents along the top tube, these have all been caused during handling, and have been photographed. I have mentioned them to be completely honest about the frame condition, but they do not effect the frame in any way.
