I’m selling my ‘nice’ road bike wheels after switching to something more ‘winter appropriate’. These are about as light a pair of road bike wheels it’s possible to build at a claimed weight of 999g (+/- 5%) without skewers, and they are the most phenomenal hillclimbing wheels I’ve ever been lucky enough to own, super responsive, spin up in no time and really do fly up the hills. I honestly can’t imagine a better wheelset for the climbing rider. They’re also surprisingly comfortable for regular use and club runs.
They are FFWD F2R rims laced to 11 speed DT Swiss 190 Ceramic hubs using DT Aerolite bladed spokes. They are just back from a full bearing replacement and service by my LBS and are ready for their new owner. They have had a very easy life with me (being under 60kgs), have never been out in the rain and have been very well maintained. They are tubular wheels and come with a pair of tyres glued on, although the front doesn’t match the back due to needing a last minute change before an event!
There are a few tiny marks in the painted section of the rim but the camera couldn’t pick them up, there’s also a very slight wobble which is only discernable when braking hard. They did have a true up during the service a few weeks ago but the mechanic advised that they came back in when the tyres needed replacing to do a ‘tyre off’ true as there was certain bits he couldn’t do with the tyres glued on.
They’ll come with a tub of tubular cement for re-adhering tyres when they need changing, and I think I have some Pitstop sealant here too which will plug a puncture without having to remove the tyre (so it says, I’ve never had to use it!).
