Have you recently purchased an XTR, XX1, or (God forbid) a Cane Creek eeWings chainset, but are wishing you had just settled for the modest workhorse Shimano Deore? Well, with this chainring you can regain every single gram of the 200 you saved, and return your bike to feeling it has the basic part that was all you ever wanted. You can alleviate that internal monologue of regret.

The chainring is made from steel. There has been no attempt to reduce it’s weight in any of the three major dimensions. I have no idea what grade of steel it is, but I would bet a Cane Creek eeWings that it is not Reynolds 853 (and I don’t even have a Cane Creek eeWings, so would have to buy one just to settle the bet). On my scales it weights 253g, which is 4-5 times as much as the competition (‘competition’).

Most importantly (and seriously now), it has a narrowwide profile, is 40t large, and is 104mm BCD. To my knowledge, narrowwide chainrings this large in 104mm BCD aren’t available anywhere in the UK, so this could be very useful for someone. I think it was OEM on Whyte bikes (I got it from what seems to be their ebay shop). I’ve used it only once, then I splashed out and imported a large alu narrowwide from Germany.

Please someone buy it, it will probably outlive you.
