The built in software works perfectly well, but is rather old. I couldn’t find an updated version of it. Having said that, its perfectly happy to boot from usb-stick, and I got Debian working on it with not too many issues. Included in the sale is an add-on graphic card, that fits the on-board expansion slot, so can actually function as a fully fledged PC not just a NAS.
Comes with 1Gb of ram installed. I believe Thecus say 2Gb will work fine. I’ve also read that 4Gb works too, especially if you run an alternative OS to the supplied.
The battery works fine, but is showing its age, and really no longer has the ability to power the device for more than a few minutes. Certainly long enough to bridge brief power interruptions, but isn’t long enough for a full shut-down with the installed software. The battery is easily replaceable, but I’ve not looked to see if new ones are available.
Comes with original box etc, and happy to post in the UK, or collection from Bath.
