Vote Now: Most Desirable Mountain Bike – Singletrack Reader Awards

In a break from the norm, we’ve got four finalists for you in this category – we just couldn’t narrow it down any more. These aren’t the bikes that you dreamt of when you were a teenager, these are the bikes you can go out and buy, now. Not everything here is brand spanking new, but we decided that’s fine: if something is so good that it escapes the cycle of model years but still stays on your most wanted list then surely that’s worth recognising? That said, there’s still plenty of innovative technology in all of these bikes, showing it’s more than just a pretty paint job that floats your boats.

Atherton AM 150

3D printing, titanium, carbon fibre, made in the UK, the winningest family in mountain biking… it’s pretty easy to understand the allure of the Atherton AM 150. After an exclusive ‘First Fifty’ launch and a shift in HQ, Athertons bikes are now in production, out on the race track, and available to order. It seems quite a few of you are hovering over the ‘buy now’ button, just waiting for an excuse to treat yourself.

Geometron G1

Was it ahead of its time or just built to last? The Geometron G1 may not be a new kid on the block, but its mutator technology allows you to adapt it to your riding or changing needs. Many of you have already taken the plunge, bought one, and now can’t imagine owning anything else. Many more seem to be holding off booking a demo day for fear of what might happen next.

Orbea Rise

This is the semi-skimmed e-bike that proved so hot it became almost impossible to find one in stock. Loads of you have already bought one, and plenty of you are eying up your heavier older e-MTBs and wondering when you can justify an upgrade. The Orbea Rise nailed the balance of battery life, power and weight, giving a cocktail that e-bike lovers had been waiting for, and e-bike sceptics found hard to dislike.

Scott Spark RC

Do we want it because we think it will make us fast like Nino? Or is it just because it’s so damn gorgeous? With all the latest carbon technology allowing the shock to be tucked away inside the frame, plus an integrated cockpit, it looks like it’s been ridden here at time-warping speed from the future. Whether you’ve got your eyes on the race tape, or just the front of the queue at Greggs, those of you with dreams of speed have the Scott Spark RC on your wishlist.

There’s something for everyone here. Close your eyes, picture that dream garage…which of these makes it into your bike rack? Ready to vote? Head here…

Voting closes 25th October!

If you are reading this then the voting form will not be visible to you. Why? because only our registered members can vote.

I came to Singletrack having decided there must be more to life than meetings. I like all bikes, but especially unusual ones. More than bikes, I like what bikes do. I think that they link people and places; that cycling creates a connection between us and our environment; bikes create communities; deliver freedom; bring joy; and improve fitness. They're environmentally friendly and create friendly environments. I try to write about all these things in the hope that others might discover the joy of bikes too.

Can we have a none of the above in all the categories? None of those bikes would even make the long list of most desirable bikes of the year IMHO. Transition Spur for normal riding Deviate highlander for big days and holidays

I went for the Geometron but it was almost like voting in the general election, ie best of a bad bunch (not really a bad list but I don’t really lust for any of them).

No. That would be awful, negative and, well… just a bit bloody miserable. You aren’t bloody miserable are you?

Desire, no yeti, no ibis, no pace, no Santa Cruz, no bespoke. Nearest I get to desire from this is for the love of Atherton’s even though I’m not a lug fanboy. You can’t please everyone I guess but am left wondering.

Sorry but I’m with most of the comments above.

Very uninspiring choice for me, and hence picked the Scott as the least bad option for me.

No bike lust there, sorry, but on the plus side credit card is safe.

Yep, rubbish list. I chose the gemetron but there would actually be sooo many more bikes i’d buy before that. Actually wish I’d gone for the Scott now…

I’m with ton as well, whay no HT? 2 enduro bikes and XC bike and a laz-E-bike….
