Save as much as 47% on a new Canyon bike.

Canyon UK has today announced a partnership with the Green Commute Initiative allowing people to buy bikes through their employer. What’s different about this scheme compared to the government ran Cycle To Work is that there isn’t a £1000 price limit on purchases or an end of scheme charge. Commuters can choose any bike in the Canyon range including e-Bikes and could save as much as 47% off the RRP.

Huge savings are available with the scheme.

As an example, a £4699 Canyon Spectral:ON receives a discount of £1503.68, which is 32%. What’s more, this scheme also allows commuters to add accessories and clothing and helmets to the total cost.

If you’re looking to get a new bike or enter into e-Bike ownership then this is a great way to do so. For more info visit the Canyon UK website where there are details plus a link to the savings calculator.

DJI Osmo Action launched

A GoPro killer?

The rumours were true and DJI has actually gone and stepped on GoPro’s toes with the release of the Osmo Action, a waterproof sports cameras. What sets the DJI apart from the range of GoPro cameras is are the dual colour screens. The rear touch screen can be used for menu navigation, settings, camera alignment and media viewing, while the front screen is designed to aid vloggers.

DJI has added some familiar features such as image stabilisation, which DJI calls “Rock Steady”, voice control and the ability to record HDR video, but this won’t work with image stabilisation turned on. Battery life is a claimed 135min with image stabilisation off, and the camera will work at a depth of 11m without the need of a case.

Whyte vs Rich Energy Trademark Battle

Look similar, don’t they? Credit: Singletrack Forum

Whyte announced this week that the company had won a trademark battle with energy drinks maker Rich Energy. Basically, this drink company had a very similar stag design to Whyte’s and the bike maker has won the case forcing Hass F1 racing team to remove the logo from its race cars.

A very interesting read.

It’s not very exciting news really so we didn’t run it, but what is interesting is the whole story behind Rich Energy. Over on Jalopnik, it has been reported that the mysterious Rich Energy seems to have appeared out of the blue and nobody can tell where their money is coming from. Even interviews with Rich Energy’s CEO and reported sales don’t tally up with the kind of money they would need to support an F1 team, even a smaller outfit like Hass. It’s a pretty interesting read and well worth a look.

Exclusive spy photos!

Cannondale’s dual shock downhill bike isn’t quite the secret it once was with the company releasing its own video detailing the some of the suspension details.

Check out that double shock action.

Since then we’ve managed to bag these exclusive up-close photos of the bike showing a coil shock in the upper mount and damper fitted in the downtube. For those of you who haven’t kept up with this unique bike, Cannondale says that a separate shock and damper means they can tune the rear suspension independently from damper rates, shock progression and more. It will be very interesting to see if this bike shows up at Fort William at the end of the month.

Atherton’s win at Fort William

Will it be a similar story at the WC?

Speaking of Fort William, last weekend both Rachel and Gee Atherton raced and won Round 2 of the British National series. To see both the Athertons on the podium at Fort William just a few weeks ahead of the WC is pretty exciting, the fact they’ve done it on their own brand of bikes makes it even more special.

We will be at the WC at Fort William at the end of the month so watch this space for WC race news.
