Bearded Man Black Mountains Three Day Event open for entries

Here’s something that’ll keep fans of big rides in epic landscapes happy, as the Bearded Man team have sent news about their new three day endurance event in the Black Mountains, taking place from the 1st – 3rd July 2011.

“This summer, Bearded Man will be taking riders on a traverse of the beautiful Black Mountains. This is no ordinary endurance event, though: opening with a 13 km evening time trial on Friday 1st July, you’ll go on to cover 140 km of the best riding the Black Mountains have to offer, split into two demanding but manageable days of riding that should make the weekend one of the most memorable of your year.

The route’s set to become a classic with the best mix of technical challenges, physical achievement and beautiful scenery to keep red-blooded mountain bikers grinning the whole weekend long. It takes in the national treasure that is the Gap, as well as plenty of lesser-known gems. We’ve also negotiated exclusive access to the beautiful Glanusk Estate, where flowing singletrack provides the perfect counterpoint to the rocky mountain riding you’ll encounter over the course of the event.

Bearded Man are long-time endurance nuts and know what riders need, both on route and in camp. Three days of racing, hot showers, comfy camping and great catering are all part of the standard package, whilst mechanical support and sports massage services are on hand to make sure all you need to do is ride. We’re also lucky enough to be supported by fabulous sponsors: Morvélo, Saddle Skedaddle, Singular and Torq will all ensure you’re rewarded for your efforts, plus Morvélo have designed our event jersey.

The standard £150.00 Rider package includes entry to the Friday night time trial and two days of riding, accommodation in the tented village, breakfast/dinner throughout the weekend, your feed station nutrition, rider t-shirt and plenty of other goodies. We’ve got Companion packages if you’d like to bring your non-riding other along and are currently looking for volunteers, too.

We’ll be uploading footage of the amazing riding here to feed your daydreams very shortly, as well as interviews with crew and athletes to help you prepare for the weekend of your year. Hook up with us on

We look forward to welcoming you to the Black Mountains!
