stand in getting the zip repaired or jacket replaced, bought the jacket over 2 years ago but its still in very good condition and after paying out £160 I,m feeling a bit cheesed off.Cannot remember where I bought it from and have no reicept.

I hear Endura warrant is quite good but is it 2yr old good with no reicept?

+1 for contacting Endura direct. I’ve got lots of Endura kit and their customer service has always been spot on.

If Endura will not entertain a warranty return for a broken zip there are plenty of places whcih will repair your jacket for you. Just Google Gore tex or eVent jacket repairs – I don’t recall who I used to rpair my torn Gore Tex but they did do zip repair/replacements.

I got a brand new replacement for my (previously repaired by them for free) 2+ year old Stealth jacket when one of the seams went.

there’s a warranty email on their site but they prefer you to go through the retailer.

    As above, send it back.

I returned my three year old jacket after the taping started to come unstuck and they sent me a brand new replacement free of charge.

    Great service in my experience.

There’s a bunch of specialist outdoor repair people on the web – my Altura Attack gave up the ghost a few weeks back, so I looked around. Wasn’t cheap though, so try your luck with Endura. Might be an idea to go in via the twitter feed or their UK facebook page – brands often want to show how personal and responsive they can be in social media.

If you find someone who’ll replace the zip cheap, could you come back and tell the forum? Mine’s still languishing in the cupboard.

OOh mucho bleeting going on here, by some!

Base on my past experience with Endura and repairs i’d drop them a cheery email asking if they can sort you zip out. They can, whether its a replacement zip for free or at cost depends, but even at cost it will only be a few pounds.

If you take it to a local clothing alteration shop they should be able to do it for under a tenner. Saves a lot of hassle, of course they may just chuck a new one in the post.

When I worked in an outdoor shop and we used one quite often when peoples zips and other things failed. It was much easier than warranty claims and if it wasnt taped seam it didnt matter. They normally did it in a day and the customer was pleased that they didnt have to wait for weeks to get the jacket back.

I just went to some local clothing repair place when the main zip on a Race Face showerproof went. They put a new zip in within 2 days for about £8. Looking at the jacket you can’t tell it had ever been repaired.

By all means try Endura, they’re very good but it may be just as quick to go down the local high street.

postierich …. will be interested to hear how you get on with Endura.
I had a similar problem….Jacket >2yrs old developed a hole in the taped seam and velcro cuff adjusters fell apart. Could remember where I bought it (mail order) nor did I have the receipt. Spoke to Endura who said I could try and take it to another shop but the shop had no obligation to help me out

When I sent my jacket back I just asked them to give me a price for a repair rather than assuming it was a warranty job (I thought it wasn’t).

Maybe that approach is better than ‘it’s broke fix it for free!’?

I had my Stealth replaced (via LBS) by them last year, I only asked if they could re-attach the seams (happy to pay) – but a new one was sent instead 🙂

Real happy as it had been hammered.

That’s the approach I used with Rapha when I sent back a 6-year old softshell for some restitching. Emailed them just a simple “please can you fix it?” (as they do say they offer a repair service), they said send it straight back so back it went with a letter which had all my card details on it. Repaired jacket arrived back with me a week later, no charge! I was surprised but pleased – obviously happy to pay for the repair but I guess their customer service is just that good.

    🙂

Sent the jacket back to endura with a covering letter and card details to cover the cost of repair, hopefully they will play the good guys!
Should have sent my 3 pairs of gloves that have developed holes in them!

I had a new zip put in an expensive ME jacket some time ago by Tundra. It wasn’t that expensive and is unbelievably good.
