OK, the parts (incl shock) add up to about £3500 if bought seperately and I guess the frame would be about a grand. So just how good a deal is thisbike?
2888 Euros is about £2500. If anyone knows of a better deal on a new downhill bike please let me know.
You can only buy this bike on 11/11/11 and delivery is next April.

If you pay now, and they go bust in the next six months....it almost looks like a high risk investment deal, ie too good to be true?

Apart from the wait I can't see many cons, that really does look like a lot of bike for the money.
If I was looking for a cheap DH bike I would probably buy that. Even if you hate it you'll get most of the money back selling it in bits.

The spec looks great, but my concern is £2.5k buys you pretty much anything you want second hand, barely used.
My big concern over the others listed above, would be second hand values and the market for them. They are a similar target market as the Saracen's IMO & there is an awful lot of them popping up second hand now & they arn't going for love nor money.
I think there is better ways to spend £2500 on a DH bike, despite the spec.
I guess its like Planet X you're just getting the bike at trade price because you're buying direct from the manufacturer. After all if Specialised/Giant did the same thing a Demo/Glory 00 would be about £3000 to us.
Just wish they were based in the UK!

There's not a lot in large frames going 2nd hand that hasn't been uplifted or battered in the Alps and then you're looking at some biggish bills to sort out bearings,shock, fork, drivetrain etc. Not being particularly gifted mechanically I like to start with a new slate!
Only a few days left to decide - here's selfishly hoping the Euro collapses and then 2880 euros will be an even bigger bargain!

as you say yourself, anything else would have to be 2nd hand which really is buyer beware. With this you've got full warranty support, it'll still ride well and if you pay by credit card that even takes away the payment risk.
That does look pretty sweet.
As an example of what you might be able to do secondhand, I built up a mint Session 88 frame with (bargain) brand new Boxxer Teams and s/h saint mech/shifter, pro2/721s, new sunline DM stem and descendent crankset for around £1.5k (using my exsiting bar, brakes and tyres)...
Love it.
They've been around a while now and that bike is stunning. I've spent the last month trying in vein to savve for this and would defo be ordering one of these if I had the cash.

Very much so buyer beware, but it's not rocket science.
A quick scoot through the first few pages of Pinkbike's for sale show a whole host of 12 month old 'proven' race bikes around the £2k mark; Morewood Makulu, Banshee Legend Mk2, Transition TR450, 224 Evo, Glory's, Demo 8's etc.
If it were me, i'd put half that into a Sunday, spend a couple of hundred quid tarting it up, and be happy in the knowledge the bike is plenty fast enough & when it gets raped on an uplift with 10 other bikes stacked against it you won't be anywhere near as upset.
Plus it will be worth near enough what you pay for it.
I would have no issues with buying from YT, I think the only downside is that you will be very lucky to bag one as the deal is so limited. If I needed a downhill bike I would definitely have my finger on the button.
Not sure about this year, but last year the deal came with a weekend B&B at a bike park, two days training, lifts and a shirt as well.
This year there's no limit so anyone who orders on 11/11/11 will get one.

Skolt - it's not hard to bag a bargain, but you need to know what you're looking for.
Put it this way, I came off a lovely bike, that had been slowly wrecked from racing and uplifts & I was fed up with being precious about it.
In a round about way of buying a couple of bikes, keeping the bits I wanted & selling everything else, I'm now on an '09 Sunday Factory that owes me a whole £510.
Buy something second hand, save yourself a fortune, spend the rest on 2 weeks in the Alps & be happy in the knowledge you will lose next to bugger all if you happen not to like it...

£400 for fork (when that french site was selling them stupidly cheap, but that is the price for decent s/h ones)
£40 for stem
£125 for chainset
= £1445

+1. I immediately thought **** right off. Even a stable and viable business can have a dip or issue in that period especially what is happening in Europe.
Plus as with any supplier (or client) - you can suddenly be hit with a letter saying 'unfortunately blah blah has ceased trading but their assets have been bought by blah blah1 for a nominal amount and tough titty mate'.
I hit 'buy' and I receive item. It could be they are creating cash flow now against a future sale. Not for me.
Credit cards offer protection against that sort of thing don't they?
