Two Beinn Eighe ones for Scotroutes. Spot the climbers in the second one.

And another Liathach one. For me, favourite hills are the ones you can keep going back to and find something new. The ones I’ve put on this thread I’ve walked, ran, biked, rock climbed, ice climbed and skied on. And just sat and looked at.

And Beinn Eighe over Liathach any day. The latter reminded me of a quarry. The former hides its most interesting side from the casual viewer.

    This bit?

Although Liathach does have it merits too.

Our local and only mountain : Pic St Loup

It’s not that big, but it sticks up out of the garrigue north of Montpellier and can be seen from a long way around. When I’m fit I can ride around it from my village, easy on a road bike but on the mountain bike there’s a mixture of fantastic natural singletrack, unrideable trails and unavoidable roads.. still good through.

After I’ve been away, I know I’m nearly home when I see it.

It’s incredibly popular on weekends with walkers, but they’re mostly on the main paths to the summit. There’s also a fun descent down the north face by abseil that starts by abseiling down inside a vertical cave, then linking up a couple of free-hanging abseils

There’s a steep sport climbing sector too

+1 for Sgurr nan Gillean (on the left)

My favourite hill memory is sitting on top in shirt sleeves in the early evening light after a fantastic day out on the northern Cuillin. Beautiful views of Skye, the Outer Isles and the mainland hills. And knowing the Sligachan Inn would still be serving when we got down.

BadlyWiredDog – Ferrari route on Alpamayo?

Anyway not because I particularly like the hill itself, though I’ve walked/climbed quite a bit on and around it. but this view of Great Gable from the entrance to Wasdale has always been a favourite of mine.

OK, so I may have actually meant Beinn Eighe – with that tremendous view off the back of it.
