Just been out for a fab ride in the sun, stopped at the cafe midway for coffee and cake. Faced with the usual ‘which cake’ dilemma when faced with an array of absolute yumminess …

Final choice today – belgium bun with cherry on top 🙂 Lots of stodge plus the sweet sugar hit of icing.

So what’s your favourite mid-ride cake* choice?

    * for those who don’t indulge in cakiness, other salivation-inducing foods are permissible.

PS – this is a rant / argue free zone …

My wife, or ‘HRH’ as I usually refer to her, makes an amazing coconut fuba cake thing … a Brazilian recipe so not something I can find ‘mid ride’ unless I bring it with me

Or Soreen. The original malt loaf, not the banana loaf nonsense. And no butter either. That’s just strange.

I was always partial to a jumbo swiss roll as a mid-ride snack. An entire one.

    Currently, jaffa cakes.

There’s plenty of reasons why the belgian bun isn’t a good idea, but who gives a stuff – I’ve had mid-ride cream teas, icecream, burger, rocky road…! 🙂

As I’m new here – Hello – this seems a nice (non controversial) place to join the conversation. My love is for a fruity Genoa cake.

Malt Loaf for me – it doesn’t matter if it gets crushed and generally kicked around – it still looks much the same.

yeah, squashed flat malt loaf wrapped around a banana is always a mid-ride winner. As is proper creamy fudge. hmm, you could squash fudge flat and wrap it round a jelly baby. Gonna try that.

Sod this, I’m off to tescos.. need some cakey goodness..

    Pfft, cakes…

Strawberry tarts. More a mid college day thing than a mid ride however, lucky to have half a bottle of lucozade for a mid ride break.

sorry but malt loaf is not a cake! FACT! (sorry thats me doing a TJ, must resist) but it did remind me of a couple of riding buddies having a competition to see who could stuff the most malt loaf in their mouths at once on a ride

one of them nearly choked to death…

Best ever mid-ride cake I’ve had was some lemon drizzle cake baked by a 90+ year old lady and sold at the little church near High Beech, Epping.

In fact it was some of the nicest cake I’ve ever had. Simply incredible.

I don’t have a picture of the cake. I was too busy eating it to faff around photographing it!
