Beer shops in Leeds – beer ritz and tall boys; will be sampling little leeds beerhouse in next couple of days.
Lots of really interesting stuff – To Øl specialise in limited edition brews; rodenbach fruit sour, durham brewery are a few of my current favourites.
Having said that there are too many bottles which seem to say….we did it because we can.
Wonder if fullers vintage 2016 will develop – and increase in value – like some of it’s predecessors.
These days I much prefer bottled to draught.

Didn’t recognise any of those Mike as they’re from down under; will look out for them.
Have had some Tautara from NZ – can’t recall which it was; an ipa i think; pleasant but nothing out of the ordinary.

Yeah Tautara is not that special, the only one you might see up north is some Moo Brew as they are the biggest of the small’s down here. Just happy to have a vibrant pub and brew scene going on.

I’m gonna have to track down some of this Tassie stuff, tend to get a little focused on the WA beers and forget there’s some amazing stuff from the rest of Oz.
I’m currently enjoying Gage Roads Little Dove and Eagle Bays Vienna Lager and ESB.

Harvieston bitter and twisted in my fave right now. Suits me 😉

Borsalinos bottle shop opened a mile from my gaff which is pretty good given I live miles from anywhere 🙂 and it’s run by a couple of landy enthusiasts.

My go to is still punk IPA I’ve not found anything as pleasantly drinkable.

I also quite like their gluten free beer which is nice as coeliac is my inherritance apparently as it was my father and his father before him etc.

Long white cloud from tempest comes close.

Lagaunitas is good too.

If you can’t tell I quite like bitter beers

Loweswater Gold, or Bluebird XB for me. Easy IPA is easier to get hold of and I really enjoy it.

+1 for Brew Dog -Punk Ipa , & Loweswater gold.
Camden pale ale , Jennings cocker hoop , Old Dairy gold top ,Hop back -Summer Lightning are all favourites of mine.

Cheap and surprisingly good – Brains “Spill the Beans” coffee porter at Aldi

Ludlow Gold, Hopback Summer Lightning, Hobgoblin Gold and proper Cornish Doom Bar are all delicious light beers.

Long Man Brewery – Long Blonde
Dark Star – Hophead and American Pale Ale.

In the pub my “go to” session beer is either Enville White or Bathams. Either will do nicely. If it’s just 1 or 2 then it’ll be Sadlers Mud Stout but at 6.5% it’s not a session beer.

I rarely drink from the the bottle but I have enjoyed a couple of Modelo’s recently and that’s bloody lovely.

My local in Hampshire has just done a special, Porters Old at 6%..

Phew..

Top of my list are Purple Moose Glaslyn,it’s brewed in Porthmadoc but we get it in Liverpool.They also serve it in the Cafe at Coed Y Brennin,it’s the ideal way to finish of a day on the trail!
The other beer I’m partial to is Salopian Shropshire Gold,Salopian Oracle.

On Tuatara, their beers are good but if you wind the clock back to 1999 they were around and exceptional.
There’s so many good beers around but equally so many ungood beers around.

Draught Oakham Citra,so nice my first mouthful makes me sigh.

That Citra stuff is amazing, tastes like a damp, lemony hedgerow.

Have a look at Caffle brewery. My local micro and they make brilliant beer!

I love me a bit of Hopback Summer Lightning also…but not readily available since I moved to Aberdeenshire, so I’ve been brewing it for the last couple of years instead.

I’ve been meaning to drop by here for a while – it’s on my ride in to work and apparently they sell Windswept Wolf, which is also gorgeous!

I love my local bottle shop also, the Deeside Drinks Emporium. Nothing too cheap there, but a good selection of local and worldy beers. It’s great for a treat now and then and they’re good for giving samples of nice whisky etc if they’ve got a bottle open.

The Little Leeds shop is well worth a trip – lovely selection and a nice spot away from the maddening crowds.

I’m off to the Magic Rock Tap in Huddersfield Sunday for a birthday beer or two – love their Salty Kiss, High Wire and Grapefruit High Wire.Snap was good last time I was there too.

Worth being on the Brewdog facebook page, put up a post a few days ago where they were selling crates of a few of their beers for 83p a pop, plys Tesco seems to be clearing all of their Brewdog milk stout stock at 90p a bottle.

Big fan of the Brewdog “Elvis Juice” too.

But favourite beers this year have been from http://madhatterbrewing.co.uk/ especially the Penny Lane Pale, Toxteth IPA, Nightmare on Bold Street (porter with coffee, lovely!) and Salted Caramel Quadruple (13%)

But beer of the year has to be Northern Monk – Smokin’ Bees Imperial Whisky Smoked Honey Porter 10.0%, amazing beer.

As a lover of Golden Ales I’d agree Ludlow Gold a good shout. Don’t get on with Doom Bar though. Having lived in both Shropshire and Cornwall I have to admit breathing a sigh of relief when back drinking in Shropshire! Apart from Skinners ‘Betty Stoggs’. Betty Stoggs via draught is not bad at all. Bottled is palatable also.

Favourites:

1. Salopian ‘Oracle’. After 36 years of drinking bitter this became my Holy Grail. The Champion of champions.
2. Enville Brewery ‘Enville Ale’
3. Bathams Bitter

I’m not a massive fan of heavier brews. These are my go-to beers when I can get them.

I’m not refined enough to be a beer snob (read that as I’ll drink anything with alcohol in it) but the local Phipps IPA is rather drinkable http://www.phipps-nbc.co.uk/

If I’m in Tesco then Sharp’s Atlantic always finds its way into my basket.

I’m a big fan of Sulwath Breweries Criffel, my weekend local, The Anchor in Kippford, has it on draft but supply from the brewery, which is only 10 miles from the pub is a bit hit and miss. Plus the barrel takes about 4 days to settle so the chances of getting a pint when I’m there are slim. It’s pure joy when I walk in and it’s on tap though.

Bitter & Twisted is always on though which is passable as a replacement.

Several beers from West brewery are also very nice, Munich Red and GPA in particular.

Mostly preferring red and amber ales, we became huge fans of Mac’s when we were in NZ
I have no idea how on trend it is but they offered a number of refreshing brews for pennies that were perfect for cooling down after hot days in the scorching sun..

Powder Keg Brewery http://www.powderkegbeer.co.uk/ local to us back here in the UK were offering a superb Citra type fizzy cold beer when we got home, superior in every way to Oakham’s Citra brew and boosted with a load of NZ hops giving a beautiful grapefruit taste and aroma that transported us straight back to Northland..
Unfortunately it was a limited edition brew and the fact that it was around £2.50 a pint meant that it was soon gone from our local

Elvis Juice from Brewdog comes close I guess but that’s got actual grapefruits in

That Hitachino nest beer from Wagamamma is one of my favourites. not at all keen on Wagamamma but will always be up for it just for a few of those!!!
