theflatboy - thanks for your kind comments, I'm no great shakes when it comes to taking pics but these somehow turned out OK - I won't bother to put up the other 494 crap ones 
In the last pic I just turned the camera on it's side & took the shot, I think the camera was in portrait mode actually & I was surprised it turned out so good

What a great thread. Some of the shots are just superb, I have lost count of all the photos I wanted to comment on 
Made me decide I really need to try and use the camera more this year.
