…watch thread
I’m looking for a robust watch with a few features that seem to be alluding my google searching abilities. My list of requirements is proving to be a bit difficult to fit on a watch.
I used to wear my Omega Professional Seamster 99% of the time but as a keen mountain biker I had to stop wearing it when cycling as it really didn’t like all the vibration. It became very temperamental presumably with all the vibrations coming through my hands when cycling on rough surfaces.
When out on the bike I now swap the Omega for a robust Seiko Kinetic Diver 200 pepsi which is spot on. It’s not skipped a beat and I really like it. The Omega is only worn for better occasions now.
However…I’d really fancy a daily watch that has an alarm..so here’s my list of needs:
1. Analogue
2. Mechanical / kinetic / solar movement
3. Divers face & bezel
4. ‘bright’ lum
5. Uncluttered face…without mini dials and hands all over the place.
6. Loud alarm function
7. £250 budget
I thought I’d nearly found what I was looking for when I discovered Momentum watches. Despite them not ticking some of the boxes (2, 3 & 5) I thought I’d give them whirl so I bought the Titan III last week but returned it as missed the mark by a fair bit. The Lum was less than bright at 03:00 in the morning, the alarm push button could easily be accidentally pushed back in thus switching the alarm function off and as for the alarm…I obviously need my hearing checked! This last point puts me of checking out their other watches.
I like the Seiko SCC137P1 other than points 3 & 5 as I’m beginning to think I need to make a few compromises but I can’t seem to find anyone selling them now.
So…can anyone point me in the direction of a watch company that covers all the above points?
