Are there any differences in the calipers, other than the fancy finned pads?

M987 is Mg instead of Al and is a darker gray.

The trail are servo-wave, whereas I don’t think the race are.

Are you sure on the XTR – I was thinking about them but seem to get a lot of iffy user reviews, certainly compared to the XT set which seem to be quite solid.

985 and 988 are same calipers, with different pads and different levees. Newer 987 calipers are 2 piece Mg rather than 1piece Alu.

Servo-wave or lack thereof is at the lever end.
