  • XTR M980/M985 Crank Preload cap – removal with allen key?

    Does anyone know if this can be done or is the FC-35 tool needed for this. I don’t have a large allen so haven’t tried this yet, but if its possible gonna nip out and buy one.

    Not sure about XTR but my SLX preload cap was done up with a bunch of allen keys together – think 2,4 & 6 together as single bunch. Doesn’t need be very tight so easily done/ undone.

    If it’s the same as non xtr a 20p will do it

    The FC-35 tool is for XTR M970 is it not? I *think* you want something more like this. As mentioned above, a coin will do the trick as it doesn’t need to be tight at all
