Sigh, Wiggle. M9000 11-40 cassette ordered. Turns up, M9001

Box says it’s specific to 3×11.

Looking around it’s hard to tell what the difference is though other than it’s optimised for 3×11 apparently, but is it an issue using it 1×11?

Some sites list the part number as M9000/9001 with no option to pick.

So guessing it’s all okay. Or will it spectacularly explode and I will die? 😀

It’s still got 11-40 range? Struggling to think about how that’s optimised unless different gaps. I reckon it’d be fine….

M9001 has a few modified teeth in the 2nd and 3rd gear (the two next to biggest sprocket).

It will work fine for 1×11, but a 9000 won’t work so well with a triple.

See CS-9000 and here for CS-9001

I wonder if the different sprockets help with that back pedal annoyance ?

That back pedal annoyance isn’t a real thing. I have three bikes with these and it’s just not an issue. I do run Shimano chains though and have noticed most of the complainers use third party ones.
