  • XTR 10spd crank and X0 10spd gears compatible?

Not that I can in any way justify upgrading to 10spd, but I just read something in MBR about new XTR cranks not being comparable with New X0. I can understand why commercially the two brands wouldn’t want to collaborate, but if it’s true it’s a bit of a shame you can no longer mix and match your favourite bits from each group. Does anyone know whether this is correct?

Allegedly the spacing on the cassettes is different, such that your chain/cassette/shifters/mechs will have to come from the same manufacturer.

However… there’s a number of companies speccing a mix on new bikes, and enough people ran XX parts this year on their otherwise 9 speed setups that I suspect parts like cassettes/chainsets will continue to be interchangeable.

Cheers Njee. I was hoping it would be possible to run an xtr crank with an otherwise xo setup. Do you reckon that would work?
