    I just ordered a medium cage rear mech, turns out I need the longer one. Not got time to return it, if I loose some links will this solve the problem? Or is this just a quick fix?

    Do you have a tripple chain ring set up? If so no, you’ll need a long cage.
    If you’ve a double chainset you’ll be fine.
