Snapped my Xtr rear mech this morning 🙁 And was wondering is there really that much difference between XT and XTR rear mech’s? Looking at the price I think I will go for a new XT one and should I go shadow?.
    Can’t believe I’ll even notice a difference.
Just wonder what the the thought’s on here are?
I must admit the mech has lasted 3 years with no problem but don’t fancy paying over £100 which I don’t have spare £50 will be bad enough

Deor is absolutely fine so XT should be too, I’ve not used XT for years.

I just replaced a 4 year old XTR rear mech with an XT one (shadow).

They weighed exactly the same amount, but the older XTR mech shifted gears ever so slightly better.

I’d imagine a new XTR mech is a few grams lighter than the XT I bought, and probably shifts better too.

For me, XTR is not worth the extra.
