I think i already know the answer to this, but i know some of you like making us mortals appear dumb! Is it possible to build 776 rims into any other hubs and spokes? They have a sort of back to front nipple set up (like the wife!) but dont know if this is similat to XM819 rims? I want some lighter wheels, but like these rims.

I'd be keen to know this too.

Excellent rims on shite hubs – would be good to re-use the rims.

It will probably be easier and cheaper, to just sell them and get something else i suspect!

Plus you'll need 24h hubs, not many of them about!

I tried in vain to get hold of a 24 hole hub to rebuild an M775 rear, no luck at all bar a DT440 hub which was more £'s than the whole XT wheelset!!! luckily enough the wheel was replaced under warranty… Shimano's reply to me asking if I could source a hub from anywhere was "We can supply you a number of spare spokes in May 2010".. errr.. thanks but no thanks Mr Shimano!!

Spokes are fine – it's the rear hub that is the Achilles Heel of an otherwise decent wheelset.
