Hi, do you know where you can get the brake pad retaining pins for 2008 XT brakes, they’re threaded into the caliper and then have a circlip at the end.

I managed to lose one of them after getting interrupted during re-assembly, then forgetting about it until I found out I had no back brake any more. LBS were great – dug through their drawer of tat and found 2 spares for me, so I can carry one in case I mess up again.

Just use a splitpin.

I got some which are a differnt length from my LBS, they work but you cant fit the clip through. PITA finding the right ones.

the little ‘circlips’ vanished on my first ride! I put this down to a retaining force of about 1 gram…

Ask your prefered retailer to order 8CY 9802 from Madison if you want a pad axle and snap ring for an XT caliper.
