    Can I get away with putting a narrowwide ring and bash on my current SLX 3×9 speed cranks. Then getting the proper 11 speed mech, chain, shifter and cassette ?

    Yep should work perfect just but chain ring in the middle ring position for best chain line.

    I had similar thought, I wasn’t sure if the chain is narrower to fit 11cogs on a standard rear hub?
    Also does it require a 142 rear??

    I’m running a Renthal 1XR Chainring with the new XT 11 Speed. Works spot on and not yet dropped a chain.

    Spend the extra £20 and get a XTR shifter. You won’t regret it.
