    I’ve bought

    a Shimano XT 11-speed Rapidfire PLUS SL-M8000 I-Spec II

    Should this be compatible with

    Shimano XT Disc Brake BR-M785-B

    If it is then I can’t figure out how it works.
    I have read conflicting opinions online, can’t find anything from shimano themselves.

    No, I don’t think so. You should have bought I-Spec-B model shifter, but I think they are not released until later in the year.

    It doesn’t. You needed I-Spec-B. I-spec II is for the M8000 levers.
