I am just trying to get my Hilo to work!
It has been unused for the last 18 months as has my bike.
The post has only been used about three times, so practically new.
It has been stored and in that time about half of the oil had leaked out of the bottom.
I am currently following this guide to service it.

I get to the end of the process and the post won’t compress, I don’t know if that is a hydro lock or something else.
Has anyone else had similar problems?
In the three times I used it I was never all that impressed with its function.

Never serviced mine as its been flawless (with regular use) since I bought it 18 months ago.

Did you make sure to hold the lever open and have it upside down when pumping it up? Failing that I cont know. There’s not much else to them really.

I now have just over an inch of movement.
Yes Tony I didn’t think there would be much else to them myself!
I will keep on fettling.

Try undoing the inners. Oil may have got in the wrong place. Just undo with a 17mm spanner I think. If you’ve got this far it’s no more complicated in there

Replace the cable. I left mine for 3 or 4 months and it did the same, put a new cable on it today and it’s working fine now.

Yes I think I will take it apart a bit more tomorrow and put a new cable on it.

Upgrade bikes charge £55 for a compete service. I used this recently after following the same guide as you to try and DIY.

Came back from upgrade really quickly and in full working order.
