    Hi all,
I’m thinking of getting a second bike, was originally thinking about a road bike however i then thought a cross bike would be better, im now thinking I would like something I could possibly do a bit of XC racing on as well. my current thinking is get a rigid 29er. im not sure what setup to go for though, im thinking inbred frame with onone carbon forks and get some second hand wheels from somewhere.

wondering what sort of set-up you would go for,

    Thanks in advance 🙂

This can work. Choose some bars that are more drop-like, so midge or Mary and some sti’s. The you will need a second wheelset with a close ratio 11-23 cassette to get acceptable road gearing.

A dedicated cross bike with a second set of wheels would also be fine, but may prove more limiting with regards to tyre choice for XC racing. I’ve yet to race my cross tyres in an XC race, but have a singlespeed mtb with semi-drops for cross and XC and all off-road. It works fine.
